We got a Tintin & Snowy resin figure!
In a previous post we talked about getting delivery of our first anime GK resin figure. We also talked about several types of medium and materials people use to produce such figures. Actually a couple months before Levi came we decided to cop the Tintin & Snowy figure from the local Tintin shop — they have a range of figures including ones made from PVC and others. The more iconic ones; this being a modest one of them, is made out of resin. It is commonly in bigger scale and more hefty.
n the Adventures of Tintin, Destination Moon, Tintin carrying a backpack, sets off from the moon rocket launch site to investigate the nefarious events of the previous night. In the surrounding mountains, he is mobbed by bear cubs intent on his honey sandwiches stashed in his backpack.
On the specs. This figure is around 25cm in height, the base is around 24cm by 19cm and was produced in 2020. This is a licensed figure. When comparing it with the Levi resin figure, these is less happening in this one. Although you can see that resin trait that we discussed in the Levi post about textures — here they are most visible on Snowy and the rock formation.
To be fair, the art design in Attack of Titan is more expressive than the smoother art style from Hergé when he drew the Tintin series. But its interesting how the materials are interpreted to make the character alive. Whilst most people might not find this scene as iconic as the actual rocket, or the characters in space suits, or even the blue lotus one (coming soon!) — we actually really like the way this figure was made and the quality to it is very nice.
The pastel colours and smooth design lines of the figure works really well in our bookcase which has a lot of stuff so the more intricate one single item is makes the bookcase overall seem busy, incoherent without focus. Happy to report Tintin looks at home there — beaming his energy and positivity.
